Wedding room blocks in
Sandston, VA
Sandston sits just outside Richmond and keeps a wedding weekend practical. Richmond International Airport (RIC) is actually inside the neighborhood, so guests step off the plane and go straight to their hotel. The area was named a Historic District by Henrico County in 2021, and with a population of 7,779, it feels manageable for arrivals, meetups, and moving a group around.
Hotel blocks here usually center on the airport side of Williamsburg Road. That corridor is built for travelers: ample parking, early breakfast hours, and staff used to late-night flights. Many airport-area hotels also run shuttles, and front desks can batch check-ins and hold welcome bags. Rates tend to be friendlier than city-center properties, while you still keep Richmond plans close by.
For off-hours, tie group time to Richmond staples: book an Offbeat History Tour of Richmond, ride the Historic Trolley Tour, or lean into the Haunted History of Richmond tour. If your crowd prefers the outdoors, a guided hike in James River Park is a solid day-after reset.
