Wedding room blocks in
Hershey, PA
Hershey runs on chocolate and roller coasters, which makes wedding weekends playful and easy to program. The town centers around Downtown Hershey, The Hershey Story Museum, and Hersheypark-so your welcome drinks, the ceremony, and a Sunday meet-up all land within a few minutes of each other.
Hotels cluster near the park and across Downtown Hershey. That gives you block options across price points, from limited-service to full-service, with plenty of parking for guests driving in and clear curb space for shuttle pickup.
- Flying in? Many guests route through Baltimore/Washington (BWI) and drive up; BWI to Hersheypark is about 95 miles, roughly 1.5-2 hours depending on traffic.
- For dinners and meetups, Downtown Hershey works: restaurants sit within a short walk of The Hershey Story Museum, and pre- or post-events can fold into time at Hersheypark for families making a weekend of it.
- Group needs: hotels can pre-assign rooms on the same floor, hold welcome bags at check-in, set aside an early breakfast room, and mark a curb spot for motorcoach staging.
A room block in Hershey keeps your people gathered by Downtown Hershey and the park, trims transit time, and frees up hours for Hersheypark or a pass through the museum.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, hotels generally require a minimum of nine rooms to create a wedding room block. That threshold lets properties organize inventory and extend group terms. Most couples hold slightly under their headcount-about ten to twenty percent fewer rooms-since not everyone stays overnight. You can often start with a courtesy block, then shift to a contract if pickup is strong; just watch deadlines for releases and attrition so additions or reductions don’t trigger fees.
Often, yes-Hershey hotels use demand-based pricing, so group rates move with season, Hersheypark attendance, and other local events. Larger blocks may unlock tiered considerations, though specifics vary by property. Try to lock rates before peak weekends tied to Hersheypark’s summer rush, Halloween, or Christmas Candylane. Sunday nights and shoulder months typically price better. If the rate is firm, ask about concessions like a suite upgrade, welcome-bag delivery, free parking, or extended check-out.
Expect a drive-first destination. Most guests fly into Harrisburg International Airport (MDT), about a 15-minute ride to Hershey, and hotels commonly offer on-site self-parking-sometimes free, sometimes a small nightly fee. Ride-share is available but can thin after Hersheypark closes. Traffic swells on summer Saturdays, concert nights at Hersheypark Stadium, and during Halloween or holiday events, so pad timelines. Some properties run local shuttles; otherwise arrange a charter for group moves and confirm overnight parking for buses near Chocolate Ave venues.
A practical target is a block that’s about ten to twenty percent under your total guest list, since not everyone will need lodging. Hotels usually need at least nine rooms to set up group terms. Start modest with a courtesy block and expand as pickup confirms demand; move to a contract only when you’re ready to accept deadlines and attrition. Factor plus-ones, families sharing rooms, and wedding-night-only stays versus full-weekend plans when sizing the initial hold.
Yes-timing and flexibility help in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Rates tend to ease outside Hersheypark’s peak summer, Halloween, and holiday periods, and Sunday nights often price better than Fridays and Saturdays. If the nightly rate won’t budge, ask for value adds: welcome bag delivery, a suite upgrade, free parking, or extended check-out. Offer a mix of price points and consider nearby Harrisburg as a backup. Mind release dates so unused rooms return to inventory before penalties apply.
