Frequently asked questions
Expect group pricing to beat public flexible rates, often by 10-20%, though it varies by property, date, and room count. In Branchburg, New Jersey, discounts trend better outside fall weekends and the New Jersey Lottery Balloon Festival in nearby Readington. Ask about extras instead of deeper cuts: suite upgrades, welcome bag delivery, free parking, or extended check-out. Hotels usually need at least nine rooms, and couples often hold 10-20% fewer rooms than their guest list. RVCC event weeks can compress rates.
The best hotels for wedding room blocks have lots of double-queen rooms, fair cut-off dates, and clear group terms. Prioritize places with a breakfast area you can reserve and a spot to stage a shuttle or rideshare pick-ups after the reception. Ask how many rooms can sit together, what suite options exist, and which concessions are possible-welcome drinks, bag delivery, parking, or late check-out. Most hotels need at least nine rooms, and courtesy blocks help when headcounts are still in flux.
In Branchburg, New Jersey, strong picks for room blocks cluster along Routes 22 and 202/206 and in nearby Bridgewater and Somerville, keeping guests close to venues and restaurants. Ask about weekend demand around Duke Farms events, the Planetarium at RVCC, and the Balloon Festival in Readington, which can limit availability. Favor hotels with ample double-queens, a small breakfast room you can reserve, and entrances or lots that work for shuttles.
Yes, hotels in Branchburg, New Jersey typically require a deposit for contracted (guaranteed) room blocks; courtesy blocks often do not. Deposits vary by property-sometimes a percentage of expected revenue, other times a first-night room and tax per room-and are tied to cut-off and attrition dates. Expect firmer terms on peak fall weekends or during the Balloon Festival or RVCC milestones when demand surges.
A guaranteed (contracted) room block commits you to a set number of rooms, with deadlines, attrition, and often a deposit; in return, the hotel holds inventory and extends group rates. A non-guaranteed, or courtesy, block holds rooms until a cut-off date with no financial liability; any unused rooms go back to public sale. Courtesy blocks are flexible but can sell out faster, while contracted blocks secure inventory when dates and headcount are firmer.
