Frequently asked questions
Yes, a few levers can bring costs down: secure a wedding room block (hotels generally require at least nine rooms), target off-peak dates, and ask for value adds like free parking or welcome bag delivery instead of deeper discounts. Reserve about 10-20% fewer rooms than your guest list to limit exposure, and consider a courtesy block if you’re unsure of pickup; contracted blocks can have attrition. Share your budget and flexibility on midweek or shoulder-season stays-those often price better.
Savings vary in Birch Run, Michigan, by hotel and date, but groups typically see a modest discount versus public rates, with more value coming from perks like suite upgrades, welcome drinks, free parking, or extended check-out. Weekdays outside major outlet-mall weekends and speedway events usually price best. Book early along the I-75 corridor, and note the nearest major airport is Bishop International (FNT), about 22 miles away. Most hotels need at least nine rooms to form a block.
If your guests don’t fill all the rooms, what happens depends on your block type. Courtesy blocks usually release unbooked rooms at cutoff with no penalty. Contracted blocks can include attrition, meaning you might owe for a portion of rooms not picked up, tied to the contract’s percentage and deadline. In Birch Run, set a realistic pickup-reserve about 10-20% fewer rooms-and watch outlet-mall and speedway weekends, when demand spikes. Ask hotels along I-75 for a clear cutoff and to re-sell returned rooms so any attrition exposure is minimized.
Yes, many hotels offer suites for the wedding couple, but availability and pricing vary by property. When you request your room block, ask whether a suite upgrade can be included as a concession, or if a preferred rate can be held for a specific suite type. Suites are limited, so hold one when you sign, and confirm details like early check-in for getting-ready photos. Other possible perks include welcome bag delivery, welcome drinks, free parking, and extended check-out, usually tied to pickup or dates with more flexibility.
Birch Run works well for wedding accommodations thanks to easy access off I-75 and plenty of hotels near the outlet mall, so guests can stay close to shopping and dining. Off-day activities range from the local zoo and speedway to mini-golf and parks with ball fields. Bishop International Airport (FNT) in Flint is the closest major option, about 22 miles away. Weekends can book up around big shopping periods and events, so set your block early. Winter often sees softer demand, which can help rates and suite availability.
